Bioinformatics Scientist – Ipswich

Directed Genomics is looking for a bioinformatics scientist to provide analytic support for its production lab located in Ipswich, MA. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, collaborative company developing cutting edge technologies for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) sample preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze sequencing data to assess the quality of experimental data
  • Carry out bioinformatics analyses and provide results to production team
  • Provide bioinformatics support to external customers
  • Develop and maintain in-house computational tools; participate in code reviews and code validations
  • Provide analyses and visualization for presentations, publications, and marketing materials

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience analyzing next generation sequencing data including targeted enrichment datasets
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Java, Scala, C++
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Python, R, Unix
  • Experience in using common bioinformatics tools such as BWA, Picard, samtools, and GATK

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud computing, preferably Amazon Web Services
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of informaticians, software engineers, and molecular biologists
