Senior Bioinformatics Scientist

 

We are looking for a Ph.D.-level scientist in bioinformatics, physics, math, or computational science to take theoretical problems and create practical solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and develop novel computational solutions in support of the Product Development and Contract Services teams 

  • Use existing analysis pipelines or develop new pipelines to provide insight into new technology development

  • Develop and maintain in-house software and computational tools

  • Contribute to drafting white papers, publications, and patent applications

  • Contribute to setting project timelines and ensuring project deadlines are met

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, computational science, or a related field

  • A demonstrated track record of developing computational solutions to address difficult biological problems

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with several of the following: Java, Scala, C++, Python, R, Unix

  • Experience in using common bioinformatics tools such as BWA, Picard, samtools, and GATK

  • At least three years of biotech experience or relevant post-doc experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud computing, preferably Amazon Web Services

  • Experience with AgBio desired

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze sequencing data to assess the quality of experimental data

  • Carry out bioinformatics analyses and provide results to research and production teams

  • Develop and maintain in-house computational tools; participate in code reviews and code validations

  • Provide analyses and visualization for presentations, publications, and marketing materials

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Experience with several of the following: Java, Scala, C++, Python, R, Unix

  • Experience in using common bioinformatics tools such as BWA, Picard, samtools, and GATK

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud computing, preferably Amazon Web Services

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently

  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of informaticians, software engineers, and molecular biologists
