Frequently Asked Questions

Projects are managed by a dedicated, senior-level scientist with oversight from our experienced management team. Meeting schedule is set by common agreement, but we’ve found that detailed, biweekly check-in meetings with milestone-based reports works well.

Project on-boarding starts with an in-depth discussion of the project needs, followed by the preparation of a draft work order defining the scope of the project, timelines, and charges. Once the draft has been reviewed, a follow up discussion takes place with adjustments to the work order to ensure that the project meets the client’s needs, expectations, and budget.

Pricing for services is based on the amount of time required to complete the project and includes bioinformatics and general lab consumables. Reagents, specialized consumables, and sequencing costs are additional and included in the work order quote. For informatics-heavy projects cloud compute and storage costs are additional and included in the work order.

We have experience with a vast array of DNA and RNA sample preparation workflows for genetic, genomic, and epigenomic analysis for both single cell and bulk samples.

Our services agreement includes a nondisclosure agreement.

We provide technical expertise and figures that can be included in white papers or posters but are not usually actively engaged in the writing or poster creation.

Detailed documentation of all work performed is provided, as well as optional, on-site training of methods developed at the end of the project.

We identify high-risk stages of the project up-front to provide some options to mitigate potential risk to project goals. Changes can be made to the goals of the project as needed and depending on the nature of the changes, there may be additional costs associated with the changes if the work hours required to meet the new goals exceed the initial hours projected in the work order.

Directed Genomics’ analysis servers are cloud-based and hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Data is maintained, shared and secured according to our Data Storage, Data Security, and Data Access policies (available upon request).

Scientists are selected based on their experience with similar projects and their role in completing the project.
